Specify the metal / specify the grade

More metal choices. More control over the specification.

Our production partner works with a wide range of metals and thicknesses. Send your drawing, preferred alloy or purchasing specification—even if it is not shown here. We review material availability and the manufacturing route around your quantity, finish and marking requirements.

Metal Grades and options to request What to specify
Aluminum 5052, 6061, or another specified alloy; natural or anodized finishes Alloy, temper if required, thickness, color and finish
Stainless steel 304, 316, or another specified grade Grade, thickness, surface finish and any required documentation
Brass Brass tags and plates; specific alloy by request Alloy if required, thickness, appearance and marking method
Other metals Mild/carbon steel, copper and other specialty material requests can be reviewed Exact material designation, coating and application requirements

These are specification options to discuss, not a statement that every grade, finish or thickness is stocked or suitable for every process. Availability, minimums, tolerances and material documentation are confirmed before ordering. Tell us about required certificates or traceability at the inquiry stage.

Concept close-up showing thin medium and thicker metal identification plate edges
Thickness concepts · Relative appearance only; not a dimensional reference.

04 / Thickness options

Choose the right substance.

Thin identification tags, standard equipment plates and thicker constructions serve different applications. Tell us whether the plate mounts flat to equipment, hangs from a wire or needs more rigidity.

Construction to discuss Project considerations
Thin sheet tags Weight, mounting surface and handling
Standard identification plates Mounting, hole layout and everyday handling
Thicker plates Rigidity, hardware clearance and shipping weight

Specify your preferred thickness in inches or millimeters. We confirm available thicknesses and tolerances for the chosen metal and production route.

Thin tags to substantial plates

Choose a thickness—or send your own.

We can review thin sheet identification tags, standard nameplates and heavier plates. Common thickness examples are shown below; custom thicknesses can also be requested.

Example thickness (inches) Approximate millimeters
0.020″ 0.51 mm
0.032″ 0.81 mm
0.040″ 1.02 mm
0.060″ 1.52 mm
1/16″ 1.59 mm
0.080″ 2.03 mm
1/8″ 3.18 mm
3/16″ 4.76 mm
1/4″ 6.35 mm

Examples are not available in every metal or finish, and they are not dimensional tolerances. Imperial and metric stock sizes may differ. Your quote and approved drawing establish the actual thickness, tolerance, manufacturing process and price. For precision requirements, specify thickness numerically rather than gauge alone.

Evaluate before a larger commitment

Discuss samples before production.

A physical sample can help your team evaluate appearance, marking, fit or mounting before a larger order. Tell us what you need to test when requesting your quote.

Sample requests are reviewed individually.

We may recommend a stock sample, locally prepared concept sample or production-partner sample. Availability, cost and timing depend on the project; samples are not guaranteed or automatically free.

A locally prepared sample may differ from the final production process. Any differences and approval requirements will be discussed.

Illustrative project pricing for engraved 1″ × 3″ anodized aluminum tags. Final pricing depends on thickness, color, marking, mounting and packaging requirements. Shipping, taxes and any setup charges are confirmed in your quote. Quantities between these examples are quoted individually; these are example quantities, not automatic price bands.

Request pricing for your quantity

Planning a large program?

From 1,000 to 250,000 tags, share your total requirement and any planned releases. Capacity, packaging and delivery schedules are confirmed for your specification.

Allow several weeks for high-volume work. A 3–5-week planning window may suit some projects, but production and delivery dates are confirmed with the quote after specifications are reviewed.

Purchasing & repeat production

A clear quote before production starts.

Every high-volume project is quoted around the approved specification. Share your purchasing requirements early so payment, documentation, production releases and delivery can be agreed before an order is placed.

Written project quote

Your quote identifies the material and grade, thickness, finish, dimensions, marking, quantity, agreed packaging and delivery basis. Setup, tooling, samples, freight and taxes are identified as included or separately charged, as applicable.

Deposits & payment

Deposit requirements, balance-payment timing and available payment methods are confirmed in the written quote. Do not assume credit or net-payment terms; any such arrangement requires approval.

Purchase orders & vendor paperwork

Send any PO, vendor-onboarding or tax-exemption requirements for review. A purchase order does not automatically establish credit terms or release production. Order acceptance and payment requirements are confirmed separately.

Proofs & production release

We agree the drawing, artwork, numbering data and any sample requirements before release. Production is scheduled once the required approvals and payment or approved purchasing arrangements are in place.

Repeat orders & scheduled releases

Reference your previous job and tell us whether the specification is unchanged or numbering should continue. Annual quantities, separate deliveries and small replacement batches are quoted individually; annual forecasts do not automatically qualify for one-run volume pricing.

Changes, discrepancies & replacements

Tell us promptly about a suspected material, marking or quantity discrepancy and provide photos and affected IDs where possible. We review it against the approved specification and agree the appropriate resolution. Changes after approval, remakes and replacement pricing or timing are reviewed case by case.

Delivery and country of manufacture: Quotes distinguish production time from transit and any agreed inspection or repackaging time. Tell us about a firm delivery deadline, required material certificates or domestic-origin restrictions before ordering. The production route and country of manufacture can be identified in your written quote.

Start your project

Tell us what needs identifying.

You do not need every specification figured out. Start with your application and approximate quantity; we will review the options with you.
