Custom Trail, Park & Botanical Markers
Custom Trail, Park & Botanical Markers
Engraved aluminum and stainless steel marker plates made for botanical gardens, parks, trail systems, campuses and public spaces. Send a single layout or a spreadsheet containing hundreds of different names, numbers, descriptions or QR destinations.
Custom sizes, shapes and mounting patterns. Botanical labels, trail markers, interpretive plates, donor recognition and asset identification can be produced as matching, sequential or fully variable sets.

Marker systems built around the project
Botanical identification
Common and scientific names, native status, bloom periods, care information, collection numbers and links to expanded plant records.
Trail and park markers
Trail names, segment numbers, mile points, junction IDs, rules, directional information and identification for park assets.
Interpretive and donor plates
Short educational text, historic information, sponsor names, memorial wording and QR links to accessible digital content.

Images show example applications of marker plates we can manufacture. Stakes, posts and installation hardware are not included unless specifically reviewed and quoted. QR graphics shown in concept images are illustrative; production codes are generated from the approved destination and tested before shipment.
Common applications
- Botanical garden and arboretum plant labels
- Native plant, pollinator garden and restoration markers
- Nature trail, greenway and park route identification
- Mile, segment, junction and maintenance-location markers
- Interpretive QR plates linking to maps, audio, accessibility content or expanded exhibits
- Donor, sponsor and memorial recognition markers
- Bench, kiosk, post, railing and landscape-feature identification
- Park equipment, irrigation zone and maintenance asset plates
- University, museum, zoo, resort and corporate-campus landscape markers
Materials and construction
| Material | Available thicknesses | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 5052 aluminum | .040 in | Economical marker programs, sheltered installations and high-volume identification |
| 304 stainless steel | 20 ga (.0375 in), 16 ga, 1/16 in and 1/8 in | General outdoor parks, trails, campuses and mechanically mounted marker plates |
| Brushed 304 stainless steel | 20 ga (.0375 in), 16 ga, 1/16 in and 1/8 in | Finished botanical, donor and interpretive installations where appearance matters |
| 316 stainless steel | 1/16 in and 1/8 in | Coastal, deicing-salt, irrigation, chemical or other demanding corrosive environments |
| Cold-rolled steel | 18 ga | Coated or welded installations where carbon steel is specified; not recommended bare for long-term outdoor exposure |
We can laser cut rectangles, squares, circles and custom outlines with rounded or square corners, holes, slots, notches and project-specific mounting patterns. Final size should be selected around viewing distance, text volume, code size and available mounting surface.
Permanent information plus a digital layer
Engrave the information that must remain readable directly on the metal, then add a QR code or Data Matrix code for content that may be longer or change over time. Codes can point to a plant database, trail map, donor story, maintenance record, accessibility page or an organization-controlled web address.
For variable projects, supply an Excel or CSV file containing each marker's text, identifier and destination. We can review the data structure, prepare a representative proof and manufacture the full set from the approved format.
What we supply—and what to send us
Custom Cutouts manufactures the engraved or cut metal marker plate. Plates can be prepared for attachment to customer-provided stakes, posts, rails, benches, stone, concrete, kiosks or other structures. If you need mounting hardware or a complete stake assembly, include that request so availability and fabrication can be reviewed separately.
For the fastest quote, provide the quantity, approximate dimensions, complete text or spreadsheet, desired material, mounting surface, hole pattern, exposure conditions, artwork and requested delivery date.

One-off prototypes and large variable marker systems are both welcome. Submitting this form starts a project review; it does not place an order.
Frequently asked questions
Can every botanical marker contain different information?
Yes. Variable names, scientific names, descriptions, numbers and QR destinations can be produced from an approved spreadsheet.
Are the stakes shown included?
No. The images demonstrate how a custom plate may look when installed. We normally supply the metal marker plates with the required mounting pattern. Complete stakes or hardware can be reviewed and quoted separately when requested.
Can you manufacture custom sizes and shapes?
Yes. We can cut custom dimensions, circles, squares, rectangles and application-specific outlines with holes, slots, notches and rounded or square corners.
Which stainless steel is best outdoors?
304 stainless works for many outdoor installations. Heavier 304 or 316 stainless may be appropriate where rigidity, coastal exposure, chlorides, irrigation chemicals or deicing salt are concerns. We can review the environment during quoting.
Can marker plates include donor recognition?
Yes. Donor names, sponsor levels, memorial wording, logos and QR links can be combined with botanical, trail or park information.
Are the QR codes permanent?
The code is marked directly on the metal, but its usefulness also depends on the destination remaining active. We recommend an organization-controlled redirect or durable webpage that can be updated without changing the physical marker.
Planning a donor or sponsor installation?
See our dedicated project page for 3.5-inch hanging medallions, 8-inch three-standoff discs and custom cut-through 316 stainless donor recognition.
