Custom USDOT Number & Commercial Vehicle Stencils

Reusable stencil systems for applying customer-supplied motor-carrier names, USDOT numbers, unit numbers and fleet identification across commercial vehicles.

Reusable marking tools for repeated commercial work

Commercial vehicle markings are a strong stencil application because the same company name and identification format may need to be repeated on both sides of every truck in a fleet. A reusable stencil can reduce the cost of repeated vinyl lettering, simplify repainting and keep layouts consistent when vehicles are added or refinished.

Important: Custom Cutouts manufactures the stencil or stencil system from customer-supplied information. The purchaser is responsible for confirming the finished marking’s wording, size, color, contrast, placement, application method and maintenance with the applicable authority, permit, plan or project specification.

What the application may require

  • Motor-carrier legal or trade name and applicable USDOT identification
  • Marking on both sides of covered self-propelled commercial motor vehicles
  • Sharp contrast, maintained legibility and appropriate viewing visibility
  • Exact vehicle and operating requirements confirmed by the fleet

Who commonly needs these stencils

  • Trucking companies and private motor carriers
  • Construction, agriculture and service fleets
  • Fleet paint, body and sign shops
  • Vehicle upfitters and equipment-rental operations

Custom materials, sizes and layouts

We can build paired door layouts, complete fleet-name and USDOT layouts, modular number inserts, or separate company-name and number stencils. Tell us the available marking area, desired character height, number of vehicles, surface curvature and whether the mark will be sprayed, rolled or brushed.

Available approaches can include reusable metal, flexible Mylar, economical oilboard, single-piece layouts, modular character sets and multi-panel stencils with alignment marks. Metal is usually the better fit for repeated flat-surface marking and aggressive handling; flexible material can be easier on curved containers, vehicle bodies or irregular surfaces.

Standard products work well when the layout fits an existing sheet. Larger programs, repeated assets and specification-driven designs are quoted around the actual job.

For fleet pricing, send the exact company name, USDOT number, quantity of vehicles, available marking area and a side-view photo or simple measurement. We can recommend a practical one-piece or modular layout and supply a proof before cutting.

Frequently asked questions

Does the regulation require a stencil?

The rule governs the finished vehicle marking and expressly allows painted or removable markings that satisfy its requirements. The stencil is the reusable application tool.

Can you make a left- and right-side set?

Yes. We can quote paired sets and duplicate kits for multiple branches or paint crews.

Can characters be changed later?

Yes. A modular layout or separate number section can be designed when fleet numbers or carrier identifiers may change.
