Custom Equipment Data Plates for Manufacturers
Custom Equipment Data Plates for Manufacturers
Durable engraved metal nameplates built to identify machinery, fabricated equipment, electrical systems and manufactured products. Send one approved layout or a spreadsheet of changing serial numbers, ratings and asset data—we will quote the complete project.
Any custom size or shape. Matching, sequential and fully variable data. Logos, borders, QR codes, Data Matrix codes, barcodes and custom mounting patterns are available.

Built around your equipment and production data
Manufacturer nameplates
Brand, model, serial number, manufacture date, ratings, capacity, pressure, electrical information and other equipment specifications.
Variable production runs
Supply Excel or CSV data for unique serial numbers, model combinations, dates, asset IDs, QR destinations or other changing fields.
Custom construction
Rectangles, circles, shaped plates, rounded or square corners, mounting holes, slots, notches and application-specific profiles.
Available metals and thicknesses
We manufacture data plates in-house from industrial aluminum, stainless steel and cold-rolled steel. Final material selection should reflect the environment, mounting method, required service life and appearance.
| Material | Available thicknesses | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| 5052 aluminum | .040 in | Lightweight equipment plates, indoor machinery, panels and economical production runs |
| 304 stainless steel | 20 ga (.0375 in), 16 ga, 1/16 in and 1/8 in | Industrial machinery, washdown areas, outdoor equipment and corrosion-resistant identification |
| Brushed 304 stainless steel | 20 ga (.0375 in), 16 ga, 1/16 in and 1/8 in | Finished equipment, architectural machinery and premium manufacturer nameplates |
| 316 stainless steel | 1/16 in and 1/8 in | Marine, chemical, wastewater and other demanding corrosive environments |
| Cold-rolled steel | 18 ga | Welded assemblies, fabricated equipment and applications where bare or coated carbon steel is appropriate |
Thickness availability, engraving area and maximum practical dimensions are reviewed with each design. Custom sizes and shapes are quoted to the project rather than sold as fixed listings.
Engraving, codes and finishing options
Permanent laser marking
Text, logos, line work, rating fields and borders can be engraved directly into the plate. Stainless typically produces a dark mark; bare aluminum typically produces a lighter mark.
Machine-readable identification
Add QR codes, Data Matrix codes or barcodes for manuals, product records, service information, asset systems and customer documentation. Minimum code size depends on data density and scanning conditions.
Mounting
Specify no holes, corner holes, custom hole diameters, slots, notches or another mounting pattern. Adhesive requirements can also be reviewed during quoting.
Powder-coated data plates
Powder coating is available for projects requiring a colored background, higher visual contrast or coordination with manufactured equipment. Powder-coated projects have a minimum order quantity of 50 plates, additional setup and coating cost, and extended lead times. Color availability and the engraved contrast depend on the selected metal and coating system. Submit the desired color or RAL reference with the RFQ; we will confirm feasibility before quoting.
Common data plate applications
- OEM machinery and fabricated equipment nameplates
- Pumps, compressors, conveyors, tanks and processing equipment
- Electrical panels, control cabinets and power equipment
- Agricultural, construction and material-handling equipment
- Model, serial number and production-date plates
- Capacity, pressure, voltage, amperage and phase plates
- Asset IDs linked to manuals, service records or digital documentation
- Replacement plates ordered by the original manufacturer or an authorized party with supporting documentation
Manufacturer and authorization policy
Custom Cutouts produces identification plates for manufacturers, equipment builders, authorized service organizations and owners with a legitimate documented need. We do not reproduce, alter or create vehicle identification number (VIN) plates, federal certification labels, titles, government-issued identifiers, or plates intended to misrepresent the identity, origin, certification, ownership or regulatory status of equipment or vehicles.
Requests involving an existing serial-number plate, certification plate, compliance marking or regulated identifier may require proof of ownership and written authorization from the original manufacturer or other issuing authority. We may decline any project that cannot be reasonably verified.
Request a custom data plate quote
Include a drawing, sample photo or layout when available. For variable runs, tell us how many fields change; we can request the production spreadsheet after reviewing the project.
Frequently asked questions
Can every data plate have a different serial number?
Yes. We can produce sequential or fully variable plates from an approved spreadsheet. Fields can include model numbers, serial numbers, dates, ratings, QR destinations and other production data.
Can you engrave our company logo?
Yes, when you own the artwork or have permission to use it. Vector artwork is preferred, although high-resolution reference files can be reviewed.
Can you make a custom size or shape?
Yes. Data plates are quoted to the drawing and can include custom outlines, rounded or square corners, holes, slots and notches. Very large, highly detailed or unusual designs are reviewed for manufacturing feasibility.
Do powder-coated data plates have a minimum order?
Yes. Powder-coated data plate projects require a minimum quantity of 50 and have extended lead times compared with bare engraved metal.
Do you make replacement VIN plates?
No. We do not reproduce or create VIN plates, federal certification labels, titles or government-issued identification plates. Other replacement equipment plates are considered only for legitimate documented projects and may require manufacturer authorization and proof of ownership.
Can the plate link to a manual or service record?
Yes. A QR code or Data Matrix code can link to manufacturer documentation, a product record, service information or another authorized destination. We can also discuss Connected Metal Tags for equipment records that need to change over time.
