815 Custom Metal Tags Prepared in Two Days

One order, two materials, and several separately organized numbered groups. A Wednesday evening order for 625 engraved stainless tags and 190 thick mild steel weld tags was completed and packed by Friday afternoon.

Project requirements

Two tag types in one coordinated order

The customer needed numbered identification in different materials and formats. The stainless tags measured 1″ × 3″ and were cut from 20-gauge stainless steel with the customer's requested ¼″ mounting holes. Each carried one line of deeply contrasting engraving with ⅝″ tall text.

The other 190 tags were ⅛″ thick mild steel weld tags, cut and engraved for direct attachment by welding. Several numbered runs required different quantities, so the finished groups were kept separate through packing. Specific numbering ranges are omitted here.

Stainless production

Cut for the requested mounting pattern

Because we cut the blanks in-house, the ¼″ holes could be built into the stainless tag layout before engraving. The generous ⅝″ character height made the single-line identification easy to read across the 1″ tag height.

The 625 stainless tags were cut, engraved, checked and divided into their respective numbered groups.

Prepared weld tags

Clean steel shine against dark engraving

The ⅛″ mild steel weld-tag blanks had been cut before this order arrived. They had also spent hours in a tumbler, leaving a clean steel shine that contrasts with the deep, dark engraving. Having those blanks prepared helped us complete the mixed-material order within the short production window.

From sheet to shipment

Cut, engraved, sorted and packed
