We rebuild the border, text, logo placement, holes and layout into clean digital artwork suitable for production.

You review the recreated layout before manufacturing. Adjustments can be made before the tag is produced.

Once approved, we laser cut and engrave the replacement tag or plate to the agreed specifications.
Artwork + manufacturing
You do not need a perfect vector file to start.
Many replacement-tag projects begin with nothing more than the tag already installed on the machine. Custom Cutouts can work from customer-supplied reference photos to recreate identification layouts for equipment, machinery, property, tools, products and industrial assets.
Artwork recreation is quoted separately when the supplied image requires tracing, logo rebuilding or detailed layout work. Simple text-only layouts may require little or no additional artwork work. If you need the recreated digital artwork file delivered to you as part of the project, mention that in your request so it can be included in the quote.
Customers are responsible for having permission to reproduce logos, trademarks, certification marks and other protected artwork supplied for recreation.

Can you recreate a metal tag from a photo?
Yes. A clear photo, scan or sketch can often provide enough information to recreate the layout of an existing equipment tag, machine plate, property tag or engraved identification plate. Dimensions and any hard-to-read text help improve accuracy.
Do I need a vector file or original artwork?
No. Original vector artwork is helpful, but it is not required to begin. We can recreate many layouts from photos and scans. Detailed logos or illustrations may require a separate artwork fee.
How much does artwork recreation cost?
Artwork cost depends on complexity. Straightforward text and border layouts require less setup than damaged artwork, detailed logos or illustrations. We review the supplied reference first and include any artwork charge in the quote before work begins.
Can you recreate damaged, faded or partially unreadable tags?
Often, yes. Send the clearest images available and include any wording, dimensions or equipment information you can confirm. We will identify anything that cannot be reliably determined before producing the proof.
Can the replacement tag be a different size or material?
Yes. The recreated layout can usually be adapted to a new tag size, stainless steel or aluminum material, different hole pattern or other practical mounting requirement.
Can you make more than one copy?
Yes. Projects can range from a single replacement plate to matching sets, sequential-number programs and larger production quantities.
Can you recreate a company logo from a photo?
In many cases, yes. Clear reference artwork produces the best result. The customer must own the logo or have permission to reproduce the logo, trademark or other protected artwork.
Will I receive a proof before the tag is manufactured?
Yes. For recreation projects, the rebuilt layout can be sent for review so dimensions, text, holes and major artwork details can be approved before production.
Can I receive the recreated digital artwork file?
Yes, when included in the project quote. If you need the recreated file for your own records or future production, mention that when submitting the project.
