Airfield markings are precision work. FAA AC 150/5340-1M is active and addresses runway, taxiway and apron markings, but a project can also be governed by airport certification, grant, engineering, military or contract specifications. This page therefore leads with drawing upload and fabrication review rather than an off-the-shelf compliance claim.

Our role: Custom Cutouts fabricates a reusable stencil from customer-supplied wording, dimensions, artwork or an approved drawing. We do not approve the marking or determine which rule applies. The purchaser and applicable authority remain responsible for the finished marking, materials, colors, location, application and maintenance.

Large airport stencils require a deliberate weight-versus-rigidity decision. Aluminum may be preferred for crew handling; stainless can provide long service life in smaller or highly reused panels. Registration, orientation, wind handling and storage should be discussed during quoting.

Questions before ordering

Is FAA AC 150/5340-1M always legally mandatory?

The AC is generally advisory in its own right but can become controlling through certification, grants, contracts or incorporated project requirements. The customer must identify the governing specification.

Can you make full-size runway characters?

Potentially, as multipart systems. Final feasibility depends on dimensions, panel weight, bridge design, transport and the supplied drawing.

Do you provide installation approval?

No. We fabricate the stencil tool. The airport, engineer or project authority controls approval and field acceptance.
