Weld-On Metal Identification Tags & Serial Plates

Weld-On Metal Identification Tags and Serial Plates

Custom steel and stainless identification tags designed for attachment to fabricated equipment and assemblies.

Weld-on tags create a physical identifier on frames, skids, structures, attachments and heavy equipment where adhesive labels or hanging tags are unsuitable. They may be engraved, cut through or produced with customer-specified numbers and layouts.

Common weld-tag applications

  • Fabricated equipment and structural assemblies
  • Attachments, frames, skids and heavy components
  • Serial numbers and production identifiers
  • Customer or project codes
  • Part, drawing and batch references
  • Paint-over cut-through identification

Engraved or cut-through?

Engraved tags support smaller text and more detailed information. Cut-through characters remain physically open through the plate and may be useful when a weld tag will be painted with the equipment. Heavy coating can bridge small openings, so paint process and character size should be reviewed.

Information needed for an RFQ

  • Base-metal preference and thickness
  • Tag dimensions and weld area
  • Exact text, sequence or spreadsheet
  • Whether the tag will be painted or coated
  • Required character height and viewing distance
  • Quantity and any drawing requirements
